I find it fitting, really, that this blog should be updated about once every two years or so. Last time around I called this place a progress log of sorts, but it seems that the place is really living up to its name -- a temple.
In truth, this is more of an abandoned, forgotten temple. One that's in ruins. But I don't care, really - and even I find it amusing to stumble upon this web-site every now and then.
I'm still writing PHP code, but I've switched from web back-ends to win32-sort-of. Writing an application - a REAL application that'll run on a targeted machine and not the server - presents a completely new set of difficulties. There are different rules to obey. For example, you have completely no control over the resource pool and its allocation; you have no knowledge of the size of that pool beforehand. There must exist a long list of support functions that detect things like insufficient space or memory, disconnections/network errors, access conflicts and the like.
On top of that, the system API presents a whole new level of things that could go wrong. And then there're things like threads, multiple instances and other stuff you have to be wary of. Then, there are the little differences in doing the same things: when writing a web page, not one loop should be endless; in local-os programs, endless loops with certain termination conditions form the basis of a program. That is not an absolute truth of course, but resident programs and system services (and I write those, most of the time) are loop-based. On top of such loops the programs have an overlay of processing pairs -- most of the time it's the "wait for event, process event" pair. Each state and action is substantially different from the other. But bah, I'm talking programming 101 here ;P
If I think of anything else, I might add it here. I wouldn't really want to break this nice once-every-two-years chain I got going... ;-)

It's been a while.
I know, I know - I wasn't supposed to update this page anymore (and I highly doubt that anyone is/will be reading this anyway). But still... I post here from time to time, I guess it's kind of like a historical record, only this one is tracking progress and not events. Each time I go through these entries I see leaps in the way I see things and think about them (the more visible because of the infrequency of my posting).
Anyhow, last time I wrote about PHP. Hey, I'm trying to make a living here. ;-) It's really rare for me to write posts in english (at least where people I know would read them; God-forsaken message boards obviously being excluded ;P). The truth is, I never really learned how to talk about my daily life or whatever's happening to me, and it doesn't really matter which language I use to express myself. That's why I was never really any good with blogs and the such. I think I enjoy writing the code that supports them more than blogging itself...
The more I change, the more I am the same, I guess... I think I didn't end up being in the top 10 of the worst blogs ever, not to mention the Web 2.0 hype and people... I was kind of hoping for a Web 2.1 patch, that'd remove all references to Web 2.0, but maybe it's just me (I know it's not just me, but who'd care ;P).
Or maybe I did...
No matter. ;-) Well, better end this before I completely become a disgrace to the overal populace. xD

Hello, after quite a break.
I am a bit different, somehow, now. Also, I have permanently moved to my personal server. This web site will not be updated any more... not really likely to be anyways.
Unfortunatelly, there is no english version of the page yet. One existed some time ago, but now I would have to post in both english and polish, since there are no reliable automatic translation algorithms available. (and I don't suppose there will be any, soon).
Well... a lot, again, has changed. I've learned PHP, did a lot of stuff... My mail server is now back on-line, my new email address is egon[at]eter.sytes.net (anti-robot formatted, sorry). I've failed my class, and I have to retake it. I'm doing that now, anyways. This time I'll pass for sure, otherwise I won't have much of a future.
Perhaps I should put all unimportant life-changes here, but really please ;-)
I'll do some minor changes here, and just let the site disappear when it expires. Hope You all can go with it. Want more on me - go to my polish web site.
Best wishes
Egon

Hello, folks!!
A LOT has changed since my last update! Wouldn't You know it, I've gone for win2k3 and made myself a small server with a homepage on it. It's in polish currently, but I'm working on the multi-language version ... and will be for some time. :) Soon enough it will reach the daylight! :)
Until then, You can just view the page at http://freeboy.dynu.net and drop me a line afterwards :)
Anyway, I don't think I'll be updating this blog site more often than it already is - that means deep cycles. But if someone checks this site more often, drop me a line ..:: egon_freeman@o2.pl ::.. okay?
If the blog itself becomes popular, I'll update it on a more regular basis. Right now I need Meagen do post some weird stuff here, even though I believe I've made her post here, anyway :)
Okay, I have to leave the admin... Activity time is over. Sleep time is now.
Oyasumi to ja ne, mina!!

Okay.... just got back. From what I've heard this blog is faar too complex for Stig's [ my friend ] english language understanding, something he called a 'raw english' ;)
Isn't it nice? :)
As soon as I finish all of my work connected with school and stuff, I'll finally proceed with the Gorky17/Odium english translation, for those of You who have somehow aquired the polish version of the game and are seeking subtitles ;)
Untill then... over'n'out!

Not much going on in this blog... Which can be pretty deceptive, as the two authors are currently two of many, many points of a relationship polygon so complex it puts most Shoujo manga to shame. Said polygon is much too complex and involves too many personal feelings to be described here. You'll just have to settle for our random ramblings. Sorry.

Okay, I am *back* here.... I guess I should update this thingie more often, but who reads it, anyway? Someone that would come across it while searching for something else, I guess.... oh, well.
I guess I can type in more about my.... personal life. No one will notice anyways... :)
A lot has changed since my last update. I am single now... and kinda in love with another girl.... Oh, jeez. And I am over 16, so this shouldn't happen... should it ? :PPP

Well.... I have to say... lots of those quizzes, created by the quizilla users are crap. But this one was *shit*. Don't ever try to take the "Which Velvet Boy are You?" test.... it just S.U.C.K.S.
Okay, better.
Still no word from Meagen. I wonder what she's doing.... besides the exams, of course.... Studying I guess.... well, I just hope she is doing well. I need to study also. And so I will and I am. So, good luck, Meagen, and best wishes. You shall pass :) *
